HOCHSCHULE REUTLINGEN

Social Work (SOA) - B.A.

Focus on People

A central task of social work is to promote social justice through societal participation and equal opportunities, as well as to support individuals and communities in overcoming social challenges. In the Social Work program, you will acquire skills to work with individuals, groups, and communities to enable social, economic, and political participation and support sustainable development.

The Social Work program will move from the Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg to Reutlingen University in the summer semester of 2025 and will find a new home in the faculty "NXT – Sustainability and Technology."

  • Regional
    Numerous collaborations with regional institutions

  • Connected
Close integration of theory, science, and practice

  • Practice-Oriented
Hands-on practical experience throughout the entire study program

Further features:

  • In addition to the practical study semester in the 5th semester, you will complete two project study semesters, during which you will plan, implement, and present your own teaching research projects in close integration of theory, practice, and research in cooperation with social institutions in the region.

  • There is a growing demand for graduates of this degree program in the Neckar-Alb region and beyond. The social sector is the second strongest economic sector in this area.

  • Our campus thrives on the active participation of students. We offer a low-barrier (accessible) course of study as well as a high-quality teaching and learning environment within a small degree program of around 140 students and 35 study places per year.

  • We bring together the extensive experience of a traditional study program with a 50-year history and strong innovative capacity in Reutlingen; launched in 1972 at the Protestant University of Applied Sciences for Social Work in Ringelbach, continued from 2018 under the sponsorship of the Protestant University of Ludwigsburg on the Reutlingen campus, and starting March 1, 2025, part of the new NXT faculty at Reutlingen University.
