Contract research for advice center against sexualized violence
Students on the Social Work course work on research projects on behalf of non-profit organizations in the social sector or for local authorities. In this example, for an advice center against sexualized violence.

The project was commissioned by a specialist counselling center against sexualized violence in childhood and adolescence. It is the only contact point in the district of Reutlingen and only receives limited public funding.
The counseling center's target groups include professionals from daycare centers, schools and sports clubs. When they come into contact with suspected violence in their facilities, the need for advice is often high, urgent, urgent: what to do, what not to do, who to inform, how to protect, how to participate, how to act responsibly?
Urgent advice is therefore important to the specialist advice center. At the same time, providing advice to all callers within a few days is medium-intensive. Can the urgency of an initial consultation for certain cases be graded on professional grounds?
What do former counselees say?
The students conducted a quantitative survey among former counselees. The work is presented to all clients at the end of the semester. The project report is made available to the client. The research results provide them with arguments for acquiring funding and promote professional development in practice. The students also benefit, as research-based learning makes teaching more instructive and meaningful.
